If you’re interested in setting yourself a challenging New Year’s resolution that will really push you this year, why not sign up for Oxfam’s Trailtrekker 2013.

Trailtrekker takes place over the 1st and 2nd June 2013 and sees teams of four trekking around the Yorkshire Dales National Park over a maximum 30 hours in order to raise money for the charity. The trail starts in Skipton, with teams choosing whether they want to aim for the Bronze, Silver or Gold challenge.

Here’s map of the route which starts and finishes in Skipton if you’re brave enough to take on the Gold Challenge

Bronze Challenge:
Covering a distance 40km and with a time limit of 12 hours, the Bronze Challenge finishes at Horton in Ribblesdale. It allows teams to see the amazing countryside in the Yorkshire Dales National Park without proving too challenging.

Silver Challenge:
With a slightly longer distance of 65km and a time limit of 22 hours, the Silver Challenge will mean team need to go almost a whole day to complete this challenge in time.

Gold Challenge:
If you’re looking to really push yourself, then the Gold Challenge is the one for you. With a distance of 100km and a 30 hours time limit, it means your team will have to work right through the night to make it back to Skipton in time.

If you’re not feeling up to the challenge fitness wise, don’t worry there is plenty of time to train. Oxfam provide beginner, intermediate and advanced training plans, with a choice of 8 or 10 week training plans, to help ensure that you’re totally ready for the challenge.

As well as the fitness aspect of the event, raising money for Oxfam is also a big part of it. Teams are committed to raising at least £1,400 (which is £350 per team member) in order to take part, but raising more money could lead to the team getting special rewards such as commemorative t-shirts and photo of the team.

If you’re interested in taking part, head over to the Oxfam website for further details on signing up.
